Our Lives With ADHD

Paperback, 93 pages

This book will give you a realistic insight into what it is like to live with a “Hidden Disability,” before and after a diagnosis, the good and the not so good.
The poems relate to events in the lives of a single parent family from Yorkshire, viewed through the eyes of a child and an adult; the emotional impact that growing up without recognition of the impairment had on friendships, relationships and work plus the astounding revelation and transformation that came with clarification of their Disability, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
The author shockingly reveals her families dealings with Social Services, the Local Education Authority (LEA) and the Primary Care Trust (PCT) whilst she attempted to attain seemingly unavailable resources which the lack of had led to her son being effectively abducted by the authorities and how she dealt with the fictitious allegations of harm she had allegedly inflicted onto him.
Kate believes she was only able to achieve all she did due to her faith: amidst her trials she became a Born Again Christian.
This book is a must for parents, carers and professionals alike who are looking for information on this controversial disorder.

Victory Over ADHD

Jun 25, 2009 - 3:40:22 PM

(HealthNewsDigest.com) - Deborah Melin’s VICTORY OVER ADHD offers comfort, inspiration, and hope to parents who are struggling to find solutions for this troubling disorder. Having twin sons both diagnosed with ADHD by the time they were six years old led Deborah and her husband on a seven year journey testing different alternative, holistic healing approaches.

They discovered a noninvasive, drug-free treatment for their sons that resulted in dramatic and permanent improvement of their ADHD symptoms. With between 2-3 million children in this country afflicted with this disorder, Deborah’s story can be a lifeline to many.

Holistic practitioners also weigh in about some of the conditions that can trigger ADHD and alternative treatments that can counter-effect the damage. You’ll find expert advice on the following:

bullet

the harmful effects of artificial food and cosmetic colouring as well as products that contain gluten and dairy

bullet

the success of the HANDLE approach to analyzing neurological deficiencies

bullet

the use of amino acid therapy against brain dysfunctions

bullet

the benefits of kinesiology and emotional freedom techniques

bullet

a chiropractic neurologist approach using retained primitive reflex therapy

bullet

how to combat heavy metal poisoning from lead, mercury and arsenic

bullet

detoxification methods that reduce the effects of vaccinations and electro-magnetic radiation

Written to encourage parents and doctors to try new, alternative techniques to overcome ADHD, VICTORY OVER ADHD is a valuable resource for anyone facing this health challenge.

It is also sometimes called "Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder" or ADHD. Either way it causes great hardship for those who have it and for their families. It usually presents with behavioural difficulties in the home and school and often leads to conflict between children and their parents and teachers.

There is no clear understanding of what causes ADD. It is known that there is a biological disturbance which contributes to difficulties of attention and poor impulse control. Short attention span and poor impulse control often lead to learning problems and oppositional behaviour which in turn create major difficulties in the development of children with ADD.

Young people with ADD are particularly at risk of educational underachievement, difficulties with authorities and drug and alcohol problems.

Early identification and management of ADD is important in preventing these problems. Education of the young person and his or her family, counselling, academic help and medicine all help in management so that the child can achieve full potential.

There are many books on ADD for parents and teachers but very few for youngsters who have ADD. This book explains ADD clearly in simple words and pictures. A child who understands what happens with ADD is more likely to accept help and use it effectively.
